About Me
- Name: Nathan Cochran
- Location: Texas, United States
I started playing the guitar when I was 12. My dad taught me to play. He is and was a big classic rock fan. As well as a Paul McCartney fan. So I got some great guitar lessons just by listening to music. I was always a big Christian music fan. A big part of learning for me was just sticking in a tape or CD and trying to play along. DC Talk was great for that. I started playing and leading worship for my youth praise band growing up. I had a band with in Missouri with the guys from my youth group. H.O.G. Rocks!! After high school I was busy at the church my parents pastored and also worked full time at Lowe's. Yes, I sold lots of lumber. I still remember a few item numbers. Not long after that I joined up with the rest of the guys in MercyMe and have not looked back since. I still enjoy making music and writing songs. I look forward to what the future brings.

You are way cool to be the ways that God wants you to be and serve him with your talent!!
Hi there, I just want to say thanks for another great cd with great music. At what do you think that Mercy Me will come to the Netherlands? Keep the good work going.
Nate~
I just wanted to thank you and the band for making a song about BJ. For a short time, before he got sick, he worked at the same store that I do. When he was admitted to the hospital I started spending hours glued to the computer screen. I watched constantly for progress reports on prayforbj.com It became a big part of my life, and after he died it left a big hole. This song has been a great way for me to think about him without being sad. I daily thank God for letting me know BJ just for that short time. He has helped me grow so much in Christ. I now have realized that I want to be a missionary some day, and I don't think I would have taken this step without BJ. Anyways thanks again for giving me this lasting memorial to him. ~Meg~

Hey Nathan!
Karen & Kevin from SonRise on Joy 92 FM in Columbia, Mo.here. Your hometown friends are so thrilled for you and all the guys in MercyMe. God has certainly taken you on an awesome journey and it is so "cool" to see a Hickman High School Kewpie being such a witness for Christ! We also hear that you have produced a solo project of lullabies in honor of your children..is this true? If so, we would love to get a copy and share some of it with our listeners! Should we call your mom and dad??? :)
We love ya' man and we pray for you and your family everyday.

Hello How are you? I am fine
Hi Everyone! I'm a big fan and I have to say that you all totally ROCKED on Jay Leno! I think the publicity is great for getting Christian music out there and to show them that we can rock too!
Your music has really touched my life and has brought me through some tough times during the last year. God is showing us who he is through your music. Please do not change who you are or your style to fit in with the main stream. Stay true to yourselves and God. Thank You so much to all of you!
I pray God will continue to bless you as you continue to be "fishers of men."
I live in Georgia. Mercy Me is coming to the Gwinnett Civic Center in the very near future. A question I have is as follow. The remaining tickets range in price from $250 to $369 per ticket. If this were the secular Rolling Stones or Fleetwood Mac, I could see that kind of perice per ticket, but we are talking about a Christian rock band. How does Mercy Me justify charging such exhorbitant rates that the majority of the population cannot afford? I really am disconcerted by this.
Dear Mercy Me,
I would like to comment on a father-son team called the Hoyt team. I'm sure you have heard of them. They do triathalons together despite the incredibly obvious fact that the son, Rick has severe Cerbral Palsy.
Recently, I went to the You Tube website to see the most inspirational video I think I've ever seen. It shows a video of the Hoyt team as your song "I Can Only Imagine" plays. The song goes well with Rick's life considering he can't speak but (as I suppose)when he stands before Christ (as a Christian) he will finally be able to speak or dance (as your song goes) or whatever he can best do to praise Jesus.
I don't think the video was done with permission and You Tube announced that it was removed by the provider. I ask, somehow, that this video could continued to be shown because first and foremost it brings honor to God and secondly, it could make your song (already a classic) popular again to once again bring honor to Christ.
BTW, I remember when the War on Terror began and word was out that your song, I Can Only Imagine, was the theme song for our Marines :)
Thanks so much for reading my comment.
P.S. You should visit our blogs sometime, my husband's is Jack Lewis.net and mine is Linda's Thoughts.
Sincerely,
Linda@lindacarlton.net
Hey Anonymous – we just wanted to address you ticket concerns. The ticket prices for the show via ticketmaster range from $28 - $78 dollars. We just checked and there were still some great seats for $28. You might have gone to the MercyMe Tour Auction site instead – that is a whole different thing. We are trying to raise money for The Go Foundation and those are bids on 2 premium tickets along with 2 meet & greet passes. All the funds raised from that go straight to The Go Foundation. Hope that helps.
In response to Danny Carlton's comment:
You can find the video about the Hoyt Team at You Tube.
Appreciate your ministry through music, brother. May the Lord encourage your heart today and enable you to serve Him well for His glory.
I just want to say that I absolutely love your music. I was very encouraged when I first heard the song "Spoken For". I gave up all secular music some time after I became a Christian, and I knew that it was what god wanted me to do. Listening to your music, I don't miss it one bit! Keep doing what you're doing and God will continue to bless you all tremendously.
Hey man, I love blogging and was really happy to see you here. Although my favorite kind of music is hard rock all the way, I have loved you guys for a while now. Wow- your profile description is so great. I am teaching myself guitar along with the help of my dad who is also a guitarist, classic rock and Paul McCartney fan. So much so that he named me after him (my middle name is Cartney), so your story was really relevant to me. Hopefully I can learn to play half as well as you. Our youth group is about to form a band with a guy who played guitar for a local Dallas band (Rustik) a while back, so it should be lots of fun. Anyway, I'm hoping on coming out somewhere to see another concert soon. Thanks for bringing some great stuff to blogger!

Hey Nate I would like you to come to Maine sometime. that would be so awesome! I've just become a fan of you guys and I'm a amatuer drum player(you can tell Robby that!).I just teach myself, even though I'm 14-year-old girl. Well, you guys are doing great, keep up the good work!
hi my name is marissa and i am like your biggest fan and i was wondering whats ur favorite song mines "I Can Only Imagine" thanks i love ur blog
I actually have a question and I can't find anywhere to ask it, so I am trying here. I am "In Love" with the "album" "Coming Up to Breathe" and ALL of the songs on it, but there is one song that I am STUCK on and there is a lyric that I can't see written down anywhere to understand what is being sung. The lyric that I am wondering about is at the end of "You Are to Blame" and is sort of "under" the rest of the chorus: the words seem to be saying, "save me by myself" or maybe "from myself". Please help me with this, the words are NOT on the album lyrics or anywhere that I have looked on the Website.
