I started playing the guitar when I was 12. My dad taught me to play. He is and was a big classic rock fan. As well as a Paul McCartney fan. So I got some great guitar lessons just by listening to music. I was always a big Christian music fan. A big part of learning for me was just sticking in a tape or CD and trying to play along. DC Talk was great for that. I started playing and leading worship for my youth praise band growing up. I had a band with in Missouri with the guys from my youth group. H.O.G. Rocks!! After high school I was busy at the church my parents pastored and also worked full time at Lowe's. Yes, I sold lots of lumber. I still remember a few item numbers. Not long after that I joined up with the rest of the guys in MercyMe and have not looked back since. I still enjoy making music and writing songs. I look forward to what the future brings.

So I think that these pics speak for themselves. We had a little to much free time at the Rivers ranch the other morning. Although....... I maybe this really is the way to go for Barry!

I am one of your biggest fans from Indiana, but I'm finding a lot more! In fact, we will be there in force at your concert at Wright State in Ohio. i was just looking at your tour schedule, and the first one listed is tomorrow night--you must be really busy, but i just wanted you to know that i'm praying for you! Keep Praise & Worship of God the most important thing in your life, ok?

I am a Nate from the Rochester NY area. You oughta have a concert up here again sometime soon. I am a bigger fan than Melissa Klemann. In fact I refuse to listen to your records too much... I'm afraid that I'll get sick of them. When "I Can Only Imagine" first came out I got sick of it cause I heard it so much.
Your guitarist friends rock... but they'll never be as good as Phil Keaggy.

P.S.
I also learn by playing along with my CDs. Namely Jars of Clay, Phil Keaggy (Heh), and Mercyme.

Hello all,

First of all wanted to say that I really like your songs. I am writing because I wasn't sure on how I could get a message to you guys (Mercy Me). I wanted to tell you guys how much your music can be inspiring. In April of this year my mother in law passed away and we had to load up the kids and go to California to take care of things. Well shortly after we got down there my 5 year old daughter asks if she can sing a song for Nana. We were in shock, she has never sang before or anything and I asked her what song she wanted to sing and she told me I can only image. Now we are in shock, here is this little girl asking to sing and she has never done this before. Well we told her ok if that is what she wanted but we figured we would see. So we get to the church a few hours before the service and I want her to practice I was thinking there is no way she is going to get up and sing in front of these people. To our surprise, during her practice, which she wouldnt even start practice until there were more people she says. Well anyways to make this short, she ended up singing I can only image in front of a huge congregation at the services. Then after we got back home she sang the song two more times. Now she is practicing to sing a different one of your songs. So just wanted u do know that she really likes your songs and they can even touch the youngest hearts. We finally got to tape her singing it on Fathers day at our church. You have a concert near us soon. We wish we could go. God Bless

Nate,

My newly adopted son and I met you back stage before your concert in Bakersfield, Ca. I mentioned that your song, "I can only imagine" helped teach him english. You told me about a project you were working on in Kazastan, vague on purpose. I wanted to tell you I would love to help with translation and any other questions, as I am sure there are many. I have a true passion for that area of the world and would be honored to help you. Just e-mail me at beebemarie@yahoo.com and let me know how I can serve! If you don't need my help, be blessed in this good work you are doing in Kazastan! For me, your song "In a Blik of an Eye" is my theme song. I have dedicated my life to not only raising my 4 boys (3 bio, 1 hand picked) but to working with the orphans in Ukraine and teaching them about Jesus. How THEY have blessed my life. (if you are curious about what we do, go to ru4children.org) Thank you for songs that inspire and comfort, I think the Lord has blessed some great young men with some wonderful talents and I pray you continue your work for many years. Marie
