I started playing the guitar when I was 12. My dad taught me to play. He is and was a big classic rock fan. As well as a Paul McCartney fan. So I got some great guitar lessons just by listening to music. I was always a big Christian music fan. A big part of learning for me was just sticking in a tape or CD and trying to play along. DC Talk was great for that. I started playing and leading worship for my youth praise band growing up. I had a band with in Missouri with the guys from my youth group. H.O.G. Rocks!! After high school I was busy at the church my parents pastored and also worked full time at Lowe's. Yes, I sold lots of lumber. I still remember a few item numbers. Not long after that I joined up with the rest of the guys in MercyMe and have not looked back since. I still enjoy making music and writing songs. I look forward to what the future brings.

Yo, so I have now lost count of how many times we have jumped on the scooters and headed off to who knows where. Ben from AA is great at leaving early and then coming back with somewhere great to take all of us. We had a day off in Colorado Springs and so what better way to see the city than on a scooter. I think we put about 150 miles on our little bikes in the course of the next couple days, but they are holding up great. Even after riding over dirt and gravel roads that curve like a snake up mountains. We almost made the trip all the way up Pikes Peak but we reached the first check point and found that it was closed for the day. Oh well, our scooters may have blow to bits from the strain anyway.
Today we are in El Paso and are considering riding the bikes into Mexico....maybe. That would be great to tell everyone that we have ridden our scooters form Colorado to Mexico all in the same tour.
Well other than a few questions from concerned police officers about our choice of scooter trails the tour is going great. We have had a good number of sell out shows which makes for an exciting night. Our families came out on tour for a week which is always fun. Lots of trips to the mall and parks, even some scooter races with the kids. Our boys got to participate in showering the crowd with tons of confetti which always made their night.
It is great to be out with friends since you have to spend so much time together, crushed into the back of a mini-van with 2 other guys certainly keeps you close.
Ok, time to go decide whether to cross the border or not. See ya!

It was my eight year old's first concert and he was thrilled! And it was my first concert in ten years (been busy having kids, dontcha know) and I was beside myself. This 34 year old mommy screamed louder than any teenager when you guys started up One Trick Pony. Thank you for a wonderful show!!!

Thank You for an amaizing show here at El Paso!! We enjoyed it and were blessed! Praise God for you guys!! Please give our love to
Audioadrenaline and Phil. I hope u enjoyed ur stay here at El Paso and pray u come back soon.
I would like to tell u guys what happend to us while being there at the show and leaving and what happened today...
Yesterday that we were there, when u guys were playing the song "Jesus bring the Rain", it made sense. My husband and I had been going thru a "dry" season in our walk and were desperately trying to get out of it. About a week ago we got the opportunity to get back into ministry, a new area of ministry in our lives, and we said yes. It all came together yesterday when u sang that song. We said yes to Jesus, and we were ready for the fight.
We came out of there full of the holy spirit and thankful because we had worshiped like we had'nt in a long time. As we get closer to where our car was parked, to our unbelief, it had been towed away. Praise God! I though deep in my spirit! We found out where our car was and called my brother to pick us up and take us there. Praise God a good friend of mine saw us walking and came back to get us. We explained the situation and she took us to where the car was. We were 6 in a '90 toyota corolla! We made it just in time to get the car out, but to our amazement, the fees for the car being impounded was 140.00 dollars!! GOOD GraVy!! We paid( i was actually short 40.00 so I surenderd my shirt that i had purchased at the concert to give it to my firend because she gave me 20.00 bucks to complete the fee and she didnt get no shirt) and left and arrived home safely. Today, friday Oct 27, I woke up sick. Went to college and came home to sleep a bit before my kids came home from school. when I was picking up my kids from school, my husband called to give me the news that he had been fired from work. GOOD GRaVy!! and PRAISE GOD!!
U see, we are not immune to the struggels of this life. Its not a suprise to me how the enemy comes at u right after u have decided to get back into ministry, right after u have worshiped like never before. But this is the time to stand firm in his word and on his promises. This is the time to fight back because we know that the battle is his and we have victory. So stand, fight and keep going, no matter what. Everyhting is so uncertain for us right now, but He is not. He is faithful. His light shines thru you and I know he wanted us to be there at ur concert because thats when we said Yes again.
Thank you again for being such big blesings for us, for ur ministry and for the love that u have for Jesus. I will be praying and interceding for u all.
God Bless You. From El Paso, TX: The Lords Butterfly.

Dude, I ride a Ruckus (when I'm not deployed around the world that is)!

No modifications yet, except for a little bit of reflective tape. I'm asking my wife (aka "santa") for an underseat bag for Christmas.

Hello Nate. You guys have probably received a few emails from various Fans of Barbaro and Friends of Mike Rea. You might remember posting to his blog in July. Mike's sister and I blogged that his favorite song was I Can Only Imagine and on one of my many trips to see my brother I bought your CD with me so we could play it by his hospital bed. Although barely able to recognize his family around him, when your song began to play, tears began to stream down his checks. We knew he knew we were there! Weeks later, when he was better, we read your post to his blog to him, and he was so humbled and touched. Mike's story, his will to survive and his belief and faith has been shared by many since that fateful day of June 16th. Thousands have offered their prayers and support to him and his family. A petition has been started and a nomination has been made to ABC-Extreme Makeover Home Edition to make Mike's home handicapped accessible so that he can be with his wife and children and feel independant again. Everyone who has come to know his story through his blog and many many news articles and internet forums hopes that, should he be chosen, MercyMe will be there. I can't figure out any other way to contact you than through this blog. Please comment on Mike's blog again or contact me through the petition found at the bottom of his blog site. God Bless.

Hey Nate; enjoyed the show in Columbus Thursday night. Phil's drummer (Dan) is an old buddy so we got to hang out.

I saw you backstage a couple times but didn't catch up with you... wanted to share with you what I got to share with Mike.

I never cease to be amazed at MM's effectiveness in worship leading. Keep it up. I've been blessed so many times by your sensitivity to the Spirit.

Take care...

I got the most powerful feeling from the Lord today on my drive home from work.
Every year, our church does "Tent Meetings." These are awesome gathering outside at a local park. People are saved everyday.
So, today, the Lord told me that the summer of 2007 was going to be the year for bringing people to know Jesus. The feeling washed over me like rain. I felt as if I was going to burst out of my skin. So my question to you is, do you know any bands that would be willing to play free for this amazing cause?

My husband and I had tickets to your concert here in Colorado Springs. Unfortunately, by the time the opening acts had finished, my husband wanted to leave, so I missed seeing you! I hope that you will come back to Colorado Springs again; I'll leave my husband home next time! I love your album Coming Up to Breathe. My fave song is Jesus Bring the Rain. I play the CD and sing with you in praise every day during my commute. Thank you so much for your wonderful music! And I thank God for giving you to me!
