I started playing the guitar when I was 12. My dad taught me to play. He is and was a big classic rock fan. As well as a Paul McCartney fan. So I got some great guitar lessons just by listening to music. I was always a big Christian music fan. A big part of learning for me was just sticking in a tape or CD and trying to play along. DC Talk was great for that. I started playing and leading worship for my youth praise band growing up. I had a band with in Missouri with the guys from my youth group. H.O.G. Rocks!! After high school I was busy at the church my parents pastored and also worked full time at Lowe's. Yes, I sold lots of lumber. I still remember a few item numbers. Not long after that I joined up with the rest of the guys in MercyMe and have not looked back since. I still enjoy making music and writing songs. I look forward to what the future brings.

SORRY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well I feel a bit like I should go hide my head in the sand somewhere from the shame of my lack of posts. I have many a time had the intention of posting a thought of the day, but alas, I let life get in the way of my online adventures. So if by some chance you have been awaiting a new post from me since, oh goodness, October!! Then I apologize.
Well so here is what has been happening. The fall tour ended with a bang. It went well enough that Audio A has decide they will postpone their departure from the music scene long enough to go at it again with us this spring. And of course we are thrilled about that.
After the tour it was full speed into the holiday season for us. We made a last minute decision to do a couple Christmas shows here in our home town to benefit the Biabetic research Foundation. Both shows went great and we had fun bringing out the Christmas songs again as only we know how to do them.
My family and I also moved into a new house during all of this. It has been about a three year process getting into this house so it is nice to finally be in a living. I have also been on a top secret mission during our time off. You will find out about that if you are curious enough;)
So it's off to tour for us, once again come catch us on the road, watch out for the scooter gang of course! I will do my best to keep you up to date on the tour and let you know what is going on in MercyMe's world. Love ya lots!!

I'm glad your tour went well and you finally got moved into your new house. I moved last summer and it was a pain, but all worth it. I would love to come see you on your tour, but I'll have to see how things go. Have a wonderful day.

Hi Nate, this is Anne from Malaysia. I LOVE Mercy Me's 'I can only Imagine' videoclip. Were you the one who played the base in the videoclip?

Thank you so much for your song, "Help is on the Way." My family has had a difficult 15 years, and I'm running out of strength to deal with it all. Your song has helped me to be able to handle it and remember that God is all powerful. Our furnace broke two days ago and we don't have the money to fix it. As I was praying at my desk, your song came on the radio (streaming live from WJQ, 99.3 out of Holland, MI), and it made me smile. Literally right after your song finished playing, I got a phone call saying that someone would come look at it for free!!! I can't wait till you come to Unity in Muskegon, MI this August-it's a great time - hopefully you can enjoy some of the other activities when you're here. Muskegon's a great place!!!

I saw Mercyme for the first time back in October in Phoenix. The band was absolutely incredible and it was my first time seeing a Christian band live. I'm looking forward to you coming back to Phoenix in the near future, I hope! The band sounded exactly like your recordings...great! Your lyrics are clever too....I particularly like "One Trick Pony" where Bart sings about "how much more open can my mind be?" Love your sound! Love your lyrics! Hope to see you soon.

My ten yr old son and I saw you all in Tulsa, OK last night. Beyond Measure!!!!!!!
There is something I'd like to say to Bart. I hope you read this to him soon: I was touched that he would open up last night about what has been going on in his life. I've been in the very same position he is in. I am around the same age, maybe older so I understand thinking things like age, weight, etc. I've been to the Mayo clinic in MN twice and seen more doctors than I could count, so what I'm saying is that I've been there. What I want Bart to hear in his heart, mind body and most importantly in his spirit is that you cannot allow what the doctors say penetrate into you! Get up thanking God for His Healing Power in your life every day. Thank Him for your healing, not matter how you feel. We went on a RA journey for a long time and then I was told it was Schleroderma and that I would be in pain until my death, which would come early in life. I had already been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia prior to this. I cried, threw up and then the most important thing happened. I got mad! I decided in the shower, that I AM a child of GOD and that I didn't have to accept what they were telling me. I promised the Lord from that day on I would not take any more chemo meds or all the others they had me on and in faith I would believe and stand on, not the problems but my promises and that I would no longer call it "my" diagnosis or "my" disease. It was no longer "mine". I just want you to get this into your spirit. Would I tell someone else to stop meds? That is between them and God and whether they believe deep down they have that kind of faith in His promises. My best friend just died of breast cancer and confessed that she did not have that kind of faith and wanted me to tell her how to have it. I just knew I had it and it was all I had. I got better with every single day that passed after stopping the meds!!! AND ALL THE GLORY TO GOD, I AM HEALED TODAY AND HAVE BEEN FOR THE PAST 2 YEARS! People couldn't believe it, but that's okay, just walk as a living testimony in your healing. I know that one other thing is important and that is that your family not treat you any differently and that they walk in that faith and fully BELIEVE it with you. Some of my family did not and I finally had to say, "you either believe I'm healed or you don't. If you don't you need to keep it to yourself because I'm not walking in that...you'll have to catch up." And THEY DID, Praise God!! And don't give favor to your pain behaviors. Don't hold your joints, showing pain, hold them in prayer and move on. I know what I am saying will sound like an impossiblity at times, but you CAN do it! I felt your pain last night and as you were talking I stretched my hand toward you and prayed for healing in your body. I understand to be young and all have all the questions that go thru your head, but none of those are important when you hold to the promises of God! You have to not think about the negative. And you have to bring those around you to a positive place as well. Your healing is between you and God...now GO FOR IT BART, IT'S YOURS FOR THE TAKING! Last night when you sang Hold Fast, it helped me so much. My son and I are separated from my husband and is looking like divorce. I'm okay with it, because I am walking in a "knowing" faith that God has a plan for us. And last night was a reminder to hold fast that help is on the way and last night you were that help!!!! Thank You for your music, the lyrics and your willingness to allow God to work thru you. One more thing; I wanted so much to yell out for you to sing your grandmother's song off your Hymn CD! I love it. Believe it or not, my grandmother always sat on the 3rd row and I loved to sit with her. She taught me endurance and "stickability" to hang in with your church thru the good and bad. Memories are one of the greatest things in life! My son said the concert changed his life. He could feel the love of the Lord. So, from Landon and myself we thank you and we will continue to keep you in our prayers! Healing Belongs To YOU BART MILLARD! Landon & Lisa

Yo MercyMe! Will you guys EVER come up to Maine? You're a great band and i have all your cd's but I've never found proof that you came up to Maine on tour. People up here would be amazed and appreciative, and you would get an excellent response! So please, trek up north sometime.
