I started playing the guitar when I was 12. My dad taught me to play. He is and was a big classic rock fan. As well as a Paul McCartney fan. So I got some great guitar lessons just by listening to music. I was always a big Christian music fan. A big part of learning for me was just sticking in a tape or CD and trying to play along. DC Talk was great for that. I started playing and leading worship for my youth praise band growing up. I had a band with in Missouri with the guys from my youth group. H.O.G. Rocks!! After high school I was busy at the church my parents pastored and also worked full time at Lowe's. Yes, I sold lots of lumber. I still remember a few item numbers. Not long after that I joined up with the rest of the guys in MercyMe and have not looked back since. I still enjoy making music and writing songs. I look forward to what the future brings.

Hello everyone! Well I was made aware, by some very dear friends of mine, that it was time for me to do a new post. Which I cannot argue with them, it has been a while. The tour has been going great and will be wrapping up very soon. After the last show on the 22 in Southhaven, MS we head straight to Nashville for GMA week. This is the week here all of us artists in the Christian music industry come together in Nashville to spend time with radio stations and other vendor's. It is really just an excuse for us to see friends that we do not get to see the rest of the year. It is also when the GMA Awards, formally the Dove Awards, takes place. We will be performing Hold Fast this year on the show so that should be fun.
As soon as that week is over we head for Hawaii!! We have the honor of joining Audio A for their last show which i think they chose a beautiful place for. Our families are going with us so that should be lots of fun.
After we get back from Hawaii we will begin working on a new CD which we are not sure when it will come out but we will let you know. I am also continuing my secret mission during the summer, so keep an eye out for that.
Alright, time to go do my push up's! Man i am getting old! haha.

Hey I saw your show in Albq.,NM. but would love to see yal perform again. Do you know if they are going to broadcast the GMA's on television? Please don't say on the Gospel Music Channel because I'm out here in the middle of the desert and we don't get that channel. I wish yal could come play in Lubbock or Midland, TX. Keep on leading the path to Christ!!!

My first Mercy Me concert was last night in Atlanta, Georgia. It was truly wonderful! I wanted to say thank you for such a memorable experience.
I also wanted to say thank you to Robby for tossing me his second drum stick; I was lucky enough to be in the 2nd row.
I've never heard the song Tremble by Audio A but it was done so beautifully by you guys!!
I've saved the best for last...I wanted to say how awesome and handsome I thought Nathan was...he was a joy to watch perform.
I'm looking forward to seeing you all in the future. God bless you. Brenda

To the band,

Attached you will find a copy of "Jason's List" and your name is on it. This list (a playlist from 1000’s of songs on an Ipod) was born out of a need to find the truth about who we are and who God is. God the Father. God the Provider. It's evolved over the past five months to what it is today. Hope. Truth. Answers. Comfort. A gift you have given to all of us, a song of truth, but today, especially to Jason.

On November 27th, two days before Thanksgiving, Jason went to the doctor to find out why he had shortness of breath when he laid on his left side. Having just had a complete physical a few months earlier for his new job as a paramedic in Williamson County, Texas, he didn't think much of it. Perhaps he had a bug of some kind....

After a brief exam and a chest x-ray, he was asked to go directly to an oncologist. On Thanksgiving, they performed a series of tests and a biopsy. By Tuesday he and his wife Heather were on a plane to Boston for an appointment with the world's foremost specialist in mesothelioma. Lung cancer. At thirty one years old, with a wife of ten years and two sons, Max who is five and Brendan who is eight, Jason has lung cancer. There must be a mistake...

Next came four rounds of the world's worst chemotherapy. Sick continually for almost three months, he still went into work, where you might just as likely find him clinging to the toilet or laying on top of a desk as riding in the back of an ambulance with an IV hooked up to keep him hydrated from all the vomiting. Trying to hold his head up as he spoke with his boys about their day at school. Fighting the "mental assassin". Why? Where is God?

Now, this Wednesday, May 2nd, in Boston, he will have his entire left lung removed, along with some ribs, his chest cavity lining and anything else the doctors can see that is covered with cancer cells. Yeah, just as it sounds, it is a radical surgery. There will be hundreds of people praying for him, for Heather, for the boys. He will be listening to you before surgery, while under, and in recovering. Listening to "Jason's List".

Thanks for your song (s). I thought you might want to know.

Hi Nathan, I guess I can say I am one of your oldes fans(and not just in age only). My family started at your Dads church when he was in the old store front on Rt.W in Columbia. He is an awesome Pastor. You may remember my Mother-in-law Hazel. I think everyone knew her...
We knew then, when you got up to sing and play for the Lord that you were headed for something great. But this has exceeded even our expectations.
Your Dad led me and a lot of others to a TRUE worship and fellowship with God, and away from the old ho-hum way that we grew up with, and you are continueing that ministy through your music. I pray that God will keep His hand upon you and all of the others in Mercy Me and that you will continue to do great and mighty things for His Kingdom.God Bless.

Nathan,
Hey, I've always wanted to write you, but felt a little stalker-ish. But I guess I'm not a stalker if we know each other. I went to West Junior High with you and was in Mr. Martin's science class with you. For the last few years I have really enjoyed your music and I was so excited to learn that you were a Christian. If you were a Christian in jr. high, I wish I had known. I could have used some true friends during that time in my life. We live in STL now and saw you sing at the game today. Wish we could have stayed for the concert but our 2-year old was with us. Congratulations with all your success!

Praise the Lord!
Last year I went to my firs concert, I won’t tell you my age, in fear that you will laugh since it was my first concert EVER! You guys were there and I was blessed with your music.
Your song Bring the Rain, gives me so much strength. In the book of Job, it says “shall we receive good at the hand of God, and shall we not receive evil?” All my trials that I’ve had, God has turned into good. He has molded me, and He is still doing just that.
I want to thank you for letting God use you. You are a HUGE blessing to me, and everyone else that listens to your music.

Matthew 25

20 “So he who had received five talents came and brought five other talents, saying, ‘Lord, you delivered to me five talents; look, I have gained five more talents besides them.’
21 His lord said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant; you were faithful over a few things, I will make you ruler over many things. Enter into the joy of your lord.’

Thank you again,
Eunice

Hey Nate,
I have saluted Mercy Me on my blog tonight, because of the influence the band's music has had on my walk with the Lord. I was just so moved beyond words hearing: Bring the Rain, for the first time tonight. May our God watch over all of you and your families as you live out God's call on your lives!

I know this post is a little late, but I was so blessed to be in Hawaii to see my 2 most favorite bands. I couldn't afford to go with AA's tour group, so I still haven't gotten to meet you guys. That was the 8th time I've seen ya'll, by far the most of any group. I am going to try to get tix when you guys are in Modesto in Nov. Since it's at a church, I'm sure the members will get first dibs at the tix. Anyway, I hope you are well. Be blessed!
In Christ,

We want to let you know how much "Bring the rain" has imacted our lives. Our daughter was born on Aug. 20th and two days later we brought home what we thought was a healthy baby girl. When she was two weeks old she was diagnosed with PHPV which has basically left her blind in one eye. We found out she was going in for surgery to try and correct her vision and the night before we took her in, I was sitting in the parking lot of a grocery store and your song cameon K-love. I sat there listening and crying and giving myself and my little baby girl over to God. The next day my brother who is a youth pastor in Texas, called and said he had been listening to this Mercy Me song (bring the rain)and thought of us and he was crying and praying for our baby girl. Little did we know at the time, but our journey had just begun. After her eye surgery she stopped eating and stopped gaining weight. We had her admitted for "failure to thrive" and after spending three days in the local hospital, she was transfered to (Stanford)Lucille Packard Childrens Hospital. Once we got there they discovered she needed open-heart surgery !! We have now been here for the entire month of October nad we have listened to your song almost everyday. We have seen God's faithfulness and provision in the most AMAZING ways!! Your song has kept us focused and given us such peace!! We've been so blessed and we want you to know how God has been using your Ministry to impact our lives in this most difficult time. We will continue to hold this song near and dear to our hearts as our sweet Charlotte continues her recovery. Thank you. -Jeremy & Nicole Nuding Modesto, California luvjake04@yahoo.com

Hi guys,
This is Jane Yu from the school press. Hopefully you guys still remember me.
I wasn't able to find a direct contact info for you guys, and this was the closest info I could reach.
I just wanted to say thank you once again for making time to have the interview with me!
Your performance was amazing and I really enjoyed Bart's testimony; thank you so much.
It really helped me to be more relieved and allowed me to acknowledge that I need to give my burdens to God.
Hope you guys have a blessed Sunday and a beautiful week with the Lord! (:
It was nice meeting you again!

I just wanted to say "Thanks" guys. We just 'stopped' in for a cup of coffee here in Maple Grove MN and who knew my daughter would become your biggest fan. Remember, the one who wondered if she should be "offended" when you asked her age. She is so happy that you decided to make her an 'honorary member' that she just won't go to bed. She has already written, and of course sung, me at least 3 different songs at the ripe old age of 9. Well...as my daughter told you tonight "ROCK ON" You might just be surprised when you see her singing up next to you someday soon. Thanks. again!!!

Hi, I sent this e-mail to KLOVE in hopes that they could get it to you guys but they said they couldn't.. I hope this e-mail finds you all doing well and having a blessed holiday season!
Sara
Hi! My youngest nephew LOVES Mercy Me! I was wondering if you guys could help me get this story to the band. His name is Caleb and he is 3years old. This Halloween he dressed up as Bart and for Christmas allhe wants is a guitar, keyboard and drums so that he can play "I Can OnlyImagine" all the time. All of us in the family are different bandmembers and we put on a Mercy Me concert everytime we are together.Caleb knows Bart's bio by hart and insists that you call him Bart mostall the time. He will sit for hours on end and listen to their CD,singing every word to the songs and sometimes acting them out. I justwanted to pass this along because it has been such a blessing to seeGod's work at such a young age. If there is anyway you can pass thisalong to Mercy Me I would greatly appreciate it. He would loved to knowthat they know about him and "his band". Thank you so much for all thatyour station does!God BlessSara MontgomeryBurlington NC
